Daily Smile – Day 1

No matter what trials and tribulations life throws at you, there’s always something to smile about. You’ve heard of looking on the bright side or seeing the silver lining. It’s all about being grateful for the positive things in our lives. These can be things we own, moments we cherish, something we’ve learned, a person, etc. Once you begin to look for things that you can be grateful for, they show up all of the time.

Healthy living isn’t just about eating nutritious foods or exercising regularly. Showing gratitude has been scientifically proven to make us happier.1 That’s why I’ve decided to start blogging my gratitude on a daily basis. I’m calling it the Daily Smile. Typically, you’d keep a journal, but I want to share this in hopes to serve as an example and maybe even inspire others to try it out.

There are so many ways to express gratitude. Follow me as I experiment with as many different methods as I can dream up. I’m going to start off with “3 good things.” This method doesn’t take a lot of time and is perfect for daily gratitude journaling.

3 good things that happened for me today:

  1. I started this gratitude blog
  2. I attended Yoga in the Park
  3. My son did yoga with me

It really hadn’t occurred to me how special it is that my son did yoga with me today, until I wrote this down. We were so fortunate to enjoy the sunshine before the rain came, and getting outside meant less time with our digital devices.

Now that’s something to smile about.
